The First Semester in Austria

Stepping out of the Comfort Zone: From UX/UI to the world of Content Strategy

"When designers want to tell stories, upskilling is the answer." For someone like me, who comes from a background in UX/UI Design and Design Management in Thailand, pursuing a master's degree in Content Strategy at FH Joanneum in Austria is a significant step out of my comfort zone. My goal is not to change careers but to find the "new puzzle piece" to further develop projects and interests in design management. A master's degree in Content Strategy at FH Joanneum in Austria represents a significant step out of my comfort zone. My goal is not to switch careers but to find a "new piece of the puzzle" to further develop projects and my interest in design management. And after one semester, I discovered that this place doesn't just provide textbook knowledge, but it's an experience of "living" among classmates from 18 different nationalities, which excites someone like me who loves to learn in all aspects every day! Learning through hands-on experience: The puzzle that connects UX and Content together What impressed me the most was that the FH Joanneum course focuses on practical applications, making it clear how Content Strategy complements UX/UI work. One workshop that really opened my eyes was: Message Architecture (by Margot Bloomstein): This is a very powerful process. It teaches us to find the "Core Direction" together with the team. The more we brainstorm with friends who have different cultural perspectives and diverse backgrounds, the more challenging it becomes and the more it teaches us to have empathy in global communication. It's an eye-opening class. Content Audit (by Paula Land): This comprehensive and highly challenging project will train us to see the big picture, analyze, and manage data systematically. These skills are immediately applicable to real-world tasks. The ability to identify areas for improvement before making changes is crucial. BarCamp: Learning Without Boundaries. At FH Joanneum,Skill development activities are constantly being organized, but my favorite is "BarCamp," a space where we can learn and share experiences in a friendly atmosphere without any rigid hierarchy. Recently, I participated in some fun and educational workshops, and I particularly enjoyed the "How Do You Memes?" workshop. The best knowledge isn't limited to classroom slides. It comes from conversation and exchanging perspectives.

Study in Graz:The City of Vibrancy and Inspiration 🇦🇹

Studying in Austria wouldn't be complete without mentioning the city of Graz, which has already become one of my favorite cities in Europe! Graz is just the right size and student-friendly. The transportation is convenient, safe, and the quality of life is excellent. Additionally, the city's perfect architecture serves as a space to recharge and provides new inspiration for someone like me who works in design every day. The past semester completely changed my perspective. It reinforced that design is not just about visuals, but about managing the "message" to resonate with users. I look forward to learning new things in the next semester and am ready to apply these skills to beVisioneer. I will share more about this project in the next article.
